Answer 1

1. What is the best way to maintain diabetes?
The best way to maintain diabetes is to Manage there stress levels. If you are a diabetic who has high blood pressure it because you stress yourself out. You want to make sure that you dont stress yourself out to much because it can lead yu into more problems in your body. It can put you in the hostipal because your blood pressure goes up and you will lose curclitaion in the legs and feet.

  • One part of evidence I have is my service learning person JoAnn Schultz answer my EQ for me and she told me what could be an answer for my EQ. Also she told me that I can look at the American Diabetes Association for more on the answer. For example she told me that on of her patient that she takes care of have type 2 diabetes and she had to cut her foot off because it got rotten. She told me that her diabetes got really bad and there was nothing they can do to fix the problem. One of the problems that the lady had was a stressful job and was hospitalize 3 times for high blood pressure because of stress.
  • Another piece of evidence I have is my book that I am currently reading and that is Diabetes Rising. The author Dan Hurley said in the book to watch out for your blood pressure and stress levels." if a diabetic stress level is to high then it can cause may more problems to there body". Dan Hurley was a guy who know all about diabetes and wrote a book on how to keep it under control and how it all started. He wanted to get the word out there.
  • The last piece of evidence I have is a article called 7 ways to control your diabetes. It stated to manage your body. It said to go for doctor visits and to make sure to take care of your body. It said that one of the keys is to stop what you are doing and breathe and think of a happy place. That way your body doesn't overload.
If we don't take care of our bodies and watch out for our sugar levels and manage about body right. then we can be putting our self in danger. We may even go in to a coma if it gets really bad.

Service Learning

1.Where are you working for your service learning?
I do my service learning at Casa Colina.

2. What is your contact?
My Contact is Jo Ann Schultz She is an Rn At Casa Colina. She can be contacted by Phone or email but she does have crazy hours at this point of time. She told me that she maybe available in the morning.

3. Summarize the service you have work to complete the 10 hours?

I have been working with Mrs. Schultz since the beginning of October. She give me research on what diabetes that would help me greatly. Every time she would get something new on diabetes she would give to me to look at.   Also she let me go to patient rooms and check on how they are doing and if they need anything. Sometimes the patient want to talk to me and they tell me everything there are going through. This show me how to treat a patient who is suffing from a long term disease and how to talk to them. By telling the patient everything going to be okay  it shows that I can listen and understand what they are going through. Most of the time I am doing service learning I am with a patient who wants to talk and also follow the nurse and see what they do. I also Talk to to the doctors there and they tell me what they do and what paper work you have to deal with. Jo Ann also has me work with Nikki and she shows me how the schedule work and how to fill in a time card. Also she shows me what I need to learn in order to go into the field I want to go into. She have me do what nurse do and deal with phones and this helps me out because you always want to keep on top of your information for the doctor.
