Self Reflection

1. I think i'm doing P+ level because I'm working on my service learning getting all my hours. Also I'v been doing a lot of research on my topic about things I never heard about. Like the other day I found out that birds are really good for diabetics because they can tell if you are diabetic or not. They can sense it by the smell of your breathe and your pee. Also they reduce they sugar levels which is really cool. I been on topic of my stuff and making sure that I get everything done on time. I plan ahead so that I don't fall behind with all the projects.

2. The one thing I'v done will would be the Service learning. My Service learning person really enjoys me volunteering and I get along with all the patients. They also ask for me and when i come back in. The staff always  like the work I do and how well I do it. Also other one I am proud of is Independent comp. I can tell my family how to eat and what are the right foods to eat. We can learn different ways to cook and make it taste good.

3. One thing I want to improve on would be trying not to find the same information for research. I want to make sure I find new things so that i can learn more about my senior topic.

Science Fair Proposal

1. If The GDP of the U.S decreases then there will be a growth of diabetes.
2. The dependent variable is GDP and the independent variable is Diabetes. The control variable U.S Citizens. Type 2 diabetes is developed if you are obese and don't eat the right foods. So type 2 is mostly developed be adults because the way they eat. My control would have to be the type 2 and adults.
3. My EQ talks about how to maintain diabetes so by eating the right food you can each your diabetes under control. What I want to do is to watch the diabetics and see how long have they had it and see what the numbers been in the pass years. It will help me see how diabetes has grown and what age is mostly likely to get it.
4. I will be looking at charts from 2000-2010 of the diabetes growth by age of the male and female. I look to see the year that diabetes rose and to see if the economy had anything to do with it.  my materials I will need to research the charts and see the number of which type of diabetes. I will also look which age it was common to have and also the number of population during that year.

What I'v Learned So Far

1. I'v learned how to make sure how to keep the diabetes under control and different ways it was treated. I also learn about what to do when they sugar lever and there blood pressure goes up really high. It also show me what different exercise were good for diabetics. So far when I research I read about people who lived with diabetes when they were little and how they need to help. Some were on there own and some have family to support them. It great now that everyone has the help they need now with all the extra help and different things..
2.
3. The book was called "Diabetes Rising". The reason I heard about the book was from a doctor who told me it gives you everything you need. The book is really great to use because if you don't know anything about diabetes it a great book to read. In the book diabetes rising the book shows step by step how to kept the sugar level under control. In the book it breaks it down for you on what to do. All the hold chapter is on sugar level and how to treat them. It show food to eat and told stories on how to prevent it. It also show how they came up with a med for it. it show me everything i need to know about the sugar and how much of diabetics can have that sugar. The other chapter show the blood pressure. Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

  1.  For my Independent component I wanted to do a cardio kicking boxing class. I wanted to do that so I can learn what Exercise are good for the diabetics and also which ones they prefer the most then I would also do a Cardio fundraiser so that all the money goes towards the Diabetes walk.
  2. I would go to the cardio class every Monday and ask people what do they prefer to do Cardio also i would put on an event to raise money for the diabetes. Also I would make little shoes to shoe how many people donate and give them little sugar free candies. Also would host the event and have raffle things that day. Also i have to plan the hole thing out in order to pull it off.
  3. Well my EQ question is talking about ways to prevent it and Cardio is the best way to keep in good health also I would donate the money to the diabetes place so that they can use the money for the people to help them.

Presentation Reflection

1.       In what way did the first interview affect your presentation?  Please explain, be specific and use an example.
The first interview affect my presentation because he give a lot of information for me to start. My interview went every smoothly and my interviewee went on and on about different thing I can use when i do a presentation. Like when my interviewee told me the different types about diabetes and what I can do to maintain the disease. When he told me all the new technology to maintain the diabetes. Also told me about the mediation that they need and which one that they use common for diabetics. For example he told me a story about how diabetics can get really bad and have a lot of symptoms. He told me also what i used in my presentation is that they always have to watch there blood sugar make sure it wasn't to high. he also told me that you don't want to give them a lot of salt because that what brings up there blood pressure and thats how it all starts.

2.       What you say stood out about your presentation performance and why?
When I was presenting I told everyone the three important things that diabetics need to know and how they an just kept the sugar level, blood pressure, and healthy eating. One that stood out to me is when i told them they had to make sure they 3 main things needed to be maintain. When i was researching that information I couldn't believe all the things that they had to look out for. I didn't think it would be that stressful when you were diabetic. They have to watch out for a lot of things and they need to make sure they eat very healthy. Also another thing is when i told them they are never alone they a lot of people out there who had it since they were 10 or 13 years old. Some people even had it when they were very young. I told them that there is always people out there to help them. I show them that they are never alone.

3.       What was the most challenging to do and why?
The most challenging part that i had was is the timing. you wanted to make sure you had enough time and that you didnt want to go over board. Also you wanted to make sure you had all your information beause you didn't want to give them to little information. You wanted to make sure you had your peers listening to you and understood everything you said because you wanted to make sure they understood all the information.

Senior Project Blog 1

My senior topic is Diabetes. The reason why I wanted to do diabetes was when I was a freshman at I-Poly High School. I would always go home and here that someone in our family or a friend has diabetes. Some people have diabetes when they were born and some get it when they get older. I always wanted to help out people and my family by giving advise back that I know of. I would look at cook books and read what good for diabetics. I hope by learning more about diabetes with service learning I can give back to those people who have diabetes. I hope that when I learn more information I can tell people what to do and show them how to eat healthy. I also want to go towards the medical field . I hope to accomplish my goal of learning more about the field and getting to talk to professionals about Diabetes. For example I want to be able to tell someone that you have type 1 Diabetes well you can do this and this. I want to be able to help people and show them to never get scared or feel down about having Diabetes. I also hope by learning about diabetes I can also learn more about the medical field. I want to be a nurse in the future when I'm done with High school so i want to learn about different things in the world. I also hope that by learning I can give people information on what diabetes really is and how you can prevent it. I hope when do learn i hope when i tell my family or a friend they will understand it better.
